uReport: True North Sports Camps expands to Etobicoke, Hamilton

Sports Jul 24, 2017 Etobicoke Guardian

In the summer of 2006, four wide-eyed university kids decided that teaching the game of baseball to young kids was exactly how they wanted to spend their summers. Brainstorming ways to turn their passion into a summer job and recognizing that there was a lack of baseball camps in Toronto, the four decided to capitalize on the opportunity and in July of 2007, North Toronto Baseball Camp (NTBC) was founded.

Over the next few summers, NTBC continued to grow, becoming a staple in the Toronto community. In 2015, the team decided to venture into a new sport to compliment their baseball programs, launching First Down Flag Football Camp. Using the same formula that made NTBC a success, flag football was an instant hit. As the founders strived to meet the growing demand of the NTBC families for more sports programming, NTBC expanded to form True North Sports Camps offering baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer and multi-sport programs in Toronto, Etobicoke, and Hamilton.

True North Sports Camps offers year-round sports programming for boys and girls ages four to 14 years old. They offer a variety of different sports camps as well as after-school and weekend programs, including: baseball, flag football, basketball, soccer and multi-sport.

“At True North Camps, we believe that recreational sports are an important part of every child’s development and we make it our top priority to deliver a truly memorable experience,” co-founder Jeremy Weisz says.

“With low camper-to-staff ratios, our outstanding coaches are committed to building an individual rapport with each and every camper,” executive director Courtney Lerman adds. “Through a combination of fun drills, activities and games, we’ve achieved the perfect balance between advanced skill development and having a memorable camp experience!”

Space is still available to join this summer. For more information, check out www.truenorthcamps.com
