Man charged with murdering mother in Scarborough's Port Union area

A man has been charged with murdering his mother after the death of a woman in Scarborough’s Port Union neighbourhood Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Officers responded to a call for unknown trouble at a home on Bathgate Drive at 2:17 a.m.

A woman with severe trauma was found and pronounced dead at the scene.

She has been identified by police as Ninon (aka Nina) Hardie, 72, of Toronto.

A suspect was arrested at the scene. Christopher Hardie, 40, of Toronto, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Toronto police have confirmed to Metroland Media Toronto the victim is the suspect’s mother.
