Man, 40, arrested after woman found murdered in Scarborough home

A man is in police custody after a woman was found murdered in a home in Scarborough’s Port Union neighbourhood early Wednesday.

Toronto police were called to the home, on Bathgate Drive near Lawrence Avenue and Centennial Road, for an unknown trouble at 2:17 a.m. Dec. 6.

“Police arrived on scene and (found a) woman suffering from trauma,” said Toronto police spokesperson Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu, adding the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

There is no outstanding suspect and no risk to public safety, police said.

There are reports the victim may be the suspect's mother, but police did not confirm their relationship.

This is the city’s 58th murder of the year.
