Man arrested after Remembrance Day poppy box theft in North York

A man has been arrested in the Remembrance Day theft of a poppy donation box in North York.

Toronto police said a man entered a “retail establishment” in the Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue area, took the poppy donation box from the counter and fled at 7:37 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

“The man was last seen heading in a northwest direction on foot,” police said in a news release.

On Monday, police released a security camera image of a suspect.

On Tuesday night, police said that a man was arrested and that charges are pending.
