No one injured in Scarborough apartment fire

Firefighters used special pet masks to administer oxygen to two dogs and a cat during a smoky fire at a highrise apartment in Scarborough last night.

Fortunately no one was injured in the blaze, which broke out around 7:30 p.m. last night in a seventh-floor unit at 3950 Lawrence Ave. E. at Orton Park Road.

“It was contained to the apartment unit,” said District Chief Stephan Powell of Toronto Fire Services.

“There was heavy smoke in the unit and light smoke on the floor.”

The cause of the fire and damages it caused is still under investigation.
