Though decried by some in the Christie Pits community for being a dark and under-used locale, the Bickford Centre is home to one of the city’s under-appreciated gems.
The school, at 777 Bloor St. W., serves as the performance venue for the Toronto Opera Repertoire.
While smaller and lesser known than the Canadian Opera Company, the repertoire is currently in the midst of its 46th season.
The company is currently staging a production of The Tales of Hoffman and The Barber of Seville, with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays.
The season ends Sunday, March 3. For tickets or information, visit www.toronto-opera.com or call 416-698-9572.
