Where March Break is Fun

Have a colourful experience at the Orange Hippo Arts Studio.

Inside Toronto has teamed up with Ourfaves.com to bring you the very best in Toronto culture, according to passionate locals like you.

When schools close for March Break it’s a good excuse to open the door (and your imagination) to some great spots across the city. For those who are able to take time and enjoy March Break in Toronto with their kids, here’s a list of places that are suitable for attention spans, appetites, and budgets of all kinds:

#1 - The Drake Hotel

“The cool kids who work at the Drake Hotel actually like children, making it that much more comfortable and fun for you to stake out a table for brunch. They do everything right. The food is really good, the staff is really good, the place is good looking and they don't give your four-year-old the stink eye.” Read more reviews...

#2 - Sweet Flour Bake Shop

“You get to design your own cookie with all your favourite toppings. They bake your design in front of your eyes, and serve your special cookie hot out of the oven. Amazing! My fave cookie design is decadent with snickers pieces, toffee pieces, and original dough. If you're on the run there is a selection of warm cookies ready to go.” Read more reviews...

#3 - Buddha Dog

“The team at Buddha Dog is great...you can really tell that they are proud of what they are doing. 'The idea was to bring together the best local suppliers - Farmers, Dairies, Bakers, Butchers, Chefs, etc - to make an exceptional hotdog and let it represent the best of their region and culinary tradition.' And guess what? They succeeded. Games on the tables, stickers and crayons to keep the kids busy and a simple menu with so many toppings, you'll be happy an adult meal is actually 4 or 5 dogs so you can try many. Pretty eco-friendly for a hot dog!” Read more reviews...

#4 - Ontario Science Centre

“Even though your child probably will visit the Ontario Science Centre on a school trip, it's worth taking a day over the weekend to explore it with them. You'll be amazed at how much fun you and your child will have together, even if it is meant to be educational!” Children eight and under can learn while playing in the KidSpark exhibit, while people of all ages can enjoy the Science Centre’s IMAX experiences. #5 - The Toronto Zoo

“The Toronto Zoo is a fantastic place that we should all frequent. Besides the obvious animal watching and learning (which is amazing, and extra impressive are all of the very knowledgeable volunteers willing to give you so much attention), you can go for a great walk or jog, and it's certainly the place for your whole family...all year round.” Experience some warm family fun at the tropical pavilion or check out the polar bears found along the Tundra Trek.
