If the luck of the Irish has anything to do with it, Toronto's warm spell will last through Sunday when the 23rd annual St. Patrick's Day Parade comes to town.
The parade is organized and funded each year by the St. Patrick's Parade Society of Toronto to celebrate Irish culture.Roughly a dozen marching bands and 20 floats will make their way through the downtown core, with upward of 2,000 marchers celebrating Eire before hundreds of thousands of spectators. This year, Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion will serve as grand marshal as the parade winds its way through the downtown streets. The parade will start at noon at the corner of Bloor and St. George streets, proceeding east on Bloor to Yonge Street. It will veer south on Yonge to Queen Street, where it will head west to University Avenue. The parade is expected to last an hour and a half, and the streets comprising the parade route will be closed from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 14.For more information, visit www.topatrick.com
