Thursday, March 11

JUNCTION RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION will hold its bimonthly membership meeting at 7 p.m. at the West Toronto Baptist Church, 3049 Dundas St. W. Join the group and meet your neighbours and help to shape the future of the Junction. Refreshments are served, and there will be discussion of recent events in the community.

Saturday, March 13

St. Patrick's Day Family Festival will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Fun for the whole family, come out and see Irish dancers, hear Irish music, eat Irish stew, write a limerick, and get your face painted with a shamrock. Sunday, March 14

FREE WALKING TOUR takes place in High Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Meet at the benches across the road from the Grenadier Restaurant. Walks are on wooded trails so wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Donations welcome. This week, discover High Park through archival photos with Terry Fahey.

A TREE IDENTIFICATION workshop is hosted by the High Park Volunteer Stewards program. Meet at the Howard Park Tennis Club, 430 Parkside Dr. at 10:30 a.m. The session includes a presentation followed by a tree walk to try some winter identification.

Saturday, March 20

VISIT COLBORNE LODGE and learn about 19th century Easter traditions. Families will tour the museum and spot eggs hidden in the restored rooms. Children dye their own eggs using natural dyes. This event runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, as well as March 27. Free with regular admission to the lodge.

DROP OFF YOUR OLD electronics like cell phones, computers and printers at the Inorganic Market, No Frills, 372 Pacific Ave. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday, March 21

THE UKRAINIAN CANADIAN ART Foundation, KUMF Gallery 2118 Bloor St. W., opens "Reflections - 50 Years of Creativity," a retrospective exhibition of the works of Pavlo Lopata at 3 p.m. Guest speaker, art historian Halyna Kostiuk. The exhibit continues until April 11.

Saturday, March 27

CANDLELIGHT EARTH HOUR walks take place at various locations for Earth Day. Join the festivities at 7:30 p.m. with walks starting at 8:30 p.m. at the Alex Ling Fountain (at Jane and Bloor streets) at the Junction Train Station Platform (at Dundas Street West and Pacific Avenue) or at Grafton Park off Roncesvalles. Bring your own candle.

Walks are on wooded trails so wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Donations are welcome. Hear about the Lost Waterways with Leo DeSorcy (this walk may last up to three hours).

It's Happening runs Thursdays in The Villager and covers Friday to Friday. Items from local, non-profit organizations should be submitted two weeks prior to the event.
