An all-firefighter rock band - the brainchild of veteran Scarborough firefighter Chris Burrell - will play a gig in Scarborough on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 9:30 p.m. at Cactus Petes.
The band, which calls itself Firesound, know how to rock and should have the crowd up dancing. They're also hoping those at the show will buy their CD, which is called Burning Love and which has, so far, raised more than $20,000 for charity. It has covers all related to fire such as Smoke on the Water, Light My Fire, and Disco Inferno to name a few. Also on hand will be firefighters selling their 2010 calendar.Proceeds from the sale of CDs and calendars will go to two charities:* Camp Bucko, which provides an opportunity for children recovering from burn injuries to meet other children who share similar feelings and experiences in a camp environment; and Princess Margaret Hospital cancer research.Check out the band at http://www.firesound.ca/For more on Burrell and Firesound, check out the Music Notes blog at www.insidetoronto.com.
