Travel around the globe at The Revue

The Revue Cinema and travel and tourism site ontheglobe.com are set to launch a unique travel and film series, Travels ontheglobe.

The events consist of illustrated talks, multimedia presentations and film screenings hosted by the self-styled cultural navigator Andrew Princz.

Travels ontheglobe accompanies viewers to magical places that have become iconic and others that may become just that. This series offers an opportunity to travel without stepping out of your environment. The presentations offer viewers first-hand insight into country cultures and peoples of the globe. The evenings are accompanied by real-life journeys which are followed by a short film, feature or documentary from the evening's profiled country.

Cultural navigator Princz of ontheglobe.com has traveled to more than 50 countries and has been published in publications including CNN Traveller, the Wall Street Journal, or the CBC program Dispatches. He is also the author of numerous travel guides including Frommers Budapest and The Best of Hungary, and he recently updated the Fodors.com's guide to Cuba. Princz specializes in tourism promotion and development in developing and post-conflict countries.

The first of the series at The Revue Cinema takes place on Nov. 22 and will bring viewers to Peru where they will learn about the dispute over the treasures of the Inca settlement in the clouds, Machu Picchu. The presentation includes a CBC documentary aired on the program Dispatches and produced by Princz, will be followed by DANZAK, a short film by Peruvian filmmaker Gabriela Yepes. Yepes recently won the Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival for this production. The film brings to life the culture behind the mythical scissor dance. Yepes' short film was recently invited to screen at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at Cannes.

Peru: The Machu Picchu Story takes place Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. at the Revue, 400 Roncesvalles Ave.

Reserve your tickets at the box office. Visit www.revuecinema.ca or www.ontheglobe.com for details.
