The Kingsway Women's Club hosts a Canada Reads author at its tea this month.
Prisoner of Tehran author Marina Nemat will talk about her experiences in the revolutions in The Middle East on Friday, Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Markland Wood Golf Club at 245 Markland Dr. near Bloor Street West.The Kingsway Women's Club began in 1935 to fill the need for cultural and recreational activities in The Kingsway area. The club now welcomes people from the Greater Toronto Area to join them in fellowship.The club hosts four teas and three luncheons each year, all at the golf club. Teas begin at 1:30 p.m. and are $10 for guests (members are free). Luncheons begin at noon and are usually $40.Members also take an occasional bus trip to Niagara or Stratford, Ont.Here is their spring program:* Dr. Christopher Foley from the Royal Conservatory of Music speaks at tea on Friday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m.* Wayne MacGregor Parker speaks on why the kilt is important to Scots at tea on Friday, March 16 at 1:30 p.m.* Spring luncheon with Etobicoke School of the Arts students on Friday, April 20 at noon.
