Bird lovers are invited to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) this month to join in on an informative and empowering presentation on songbird conservation.
Led by Dr. Bridget Stutchbury, a professor at York University and author of Silence of the Songbirds, and Etobicoke resident Christina Sharma, the founder and director of Project CHIRP!, Miraculous Migrants: Why Songbird Conservation Begins at Home will present songbird population trends, causes and solutions, the miraculous feats of our migratory songbirds, and how to create songbird-friendly gardens. The talk is being offered in cooperation with the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF), the Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP), Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests (LEAF), Ontario Nature, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), and Birds and Beans Cafe. The event takes place Sunday, Oct. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the ROM, 110 Queen's Park. Cost is $20 (or $18 online) for non ROM members and $17 (or $15 online) for members.
