Scarborough's Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate won't have to go far to compete in the provincial boys high school hockey championship, which the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA) is hosting March 22 to 25 in Etobicoke at the MasterCard Centre.
Mowat earned a berth with 3-1 win over Malvern Collegiate on Tuesday, March 8, at the TDSSAA championship at North Toronto Arena.
It capped off a stellar season at the city level for Mowat who rang off five straight post season wins, after finishing in first place in the tier one, east-north division with a 7-1 record.
Mowat swept through both their semifinal and quarterfinal games on a busy Monday, beating Leaside 3-1 and East York Collegiate 4-3, respectively.
Earlier, they won their east-north championship playoff final 5-3 over Birchmount Park.
Also joining Mowat at the 3/4A Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) boys hockey championship in Etobicoke is Etobicoke's Michael Power who happened to win the Catholic board final 2-1 over North York's Brebeuf College School in an OT shootout on Wednesday, March 9.
