Scarborough soccer player gets rookie recognition

Former Cardinal Newman Catholic Secondary School student Carmelina Puopolo was honoured by the Northeast-10 Conference on Sept. 7 for her outstanding play throughout the past week.

Puopolo is a member of the women's college soccer team Golden Knights who play out of the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.

She is a freshman forward.

She got eight points on three goals and a pair of assists for her team since the season started. She helped lead her team to victory at their season opener against Holy Family University, also from Albany, with a final score of 7-0.

She got another assist in a game win against Mercy College, also from Albany.
