Cyclists are gearing up for the RONA MS Bike Tour 2010 on Sept. 12 at Centennial Park.
It is hoped more than 500 cyclists will join in the event, which is expected to raise an estimated $270,000 in pledges for multiple sclerosis. The route is 55 or 30 kilometres starting at the park and going along the Humber trail. It will be signed with bright arrows to direct cyclists. Rest stops will be located every 15 kilometres along the route, but it's suggested cyclists bring their own snacks and drinks. So far this year the RONA Bike Tour was held: in Grand Bend to London on July 24 to 25; Ottawa to Kemptville from Aug. 7 to 8; Acton to Waterloo from Aug. 14 to 15; and Niagara region on Aug. 22.MS is a complex disease often diagnosed in young adults, aged 15 to 40, although it can also affect children, some as young as two years old.
