Three North York youth teams in Ontario Cup semis

It's been a relatively quiet year for Toronto rep soccer teams in Ontario Cup competition.

The Ontario Cup is the prestigious provincial championship for youth club teams from U12 age division and up, along with a men's and women's division.

Most of the divisions will compete in their semifinal games over the Aug. 28 weekend. But of the 30 semifinal games on tap in the various divisions (26 youth and four adult divisions), Toronto's only representatives are three youth teams from North York and one men's team.

The men's team is Toronto Blackstar FC, which is slated to play A.E.K. London FC on Sunday, Aug. 29, 4:30 p.m. at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga.

The schedule for the three North York youth teams are as follows:

* U15 boys, tier two: North York Armour vs. Burlington Falcons, Saturday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. vs. Burlington Falcons at Esther Shiner Stadium;

* U17 boys, tier one: North York Spartacus vs. Ajax Gunners, Sunday, Aug. 29, 3 p.m. at Esther Shiner Stadium;

* U17 boys, tier two: North York Hearts Azzurri vs. Whitby Iroquois, Sunday, Aug. 29, 11 a.m., at Lions Park, Brantford.

Winners move on to the Ontario Cup finals, held over two weekends in September.
