Wheelchair basketball team wins first game at world championships

Two Scarborough men on Canadian team

The Canadian Men's Wheelchair basketball team won its first game 68-45 against Mexico at the 2010 World Wheelchair Basketball championships.

Scarborough's Abdi Fatah Dini and Adam Lancia are competing along with their teammates in Birmingham, England.

The team faces Algeria Friday, July 9, France on Saturday, Turkey on Sunday and Australia on Monday.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for Wednesday, July 14 with the semis on Thursday, July 15.

The final game is set for Saturday, July 17.

Dini and Lancia train out of Variety Village in Scarborough.
