Manukov ends high school wrestling career with OFSAA gold

Tops the silver medal he won last year

Lakeshore Collegiate's Ilya Manukov couldn't ask for a better end to his high school wrestling career.

At last week's OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) championships at the Tillsonburg Special Event Centre, he won a gold medal in the unlimited category.

And that was the only way he could have topped last year's OFSAA performance, as he won the silver medal in the same category.

Toronto is not a powerhouse in this sport - and only boasted one other medal winner.

Nat Edwards from Chaminade earned a bronze medal in the boys 83 kg class.

However, Toronto did have some other noteworthy top-six results and we've listed them all below.

Team-wise, North York's Newtonbrook Secondary School had the top Toronto result, finishing 22nd overall out of 50 high schools (26th for the girls, 28th for the boys).

Here's a list of all top 6 Toronto results:

BOYS

1 Ilya Manukov, Lakeshore CI, Unlimited;

3 Nat Edwards, Chaminade, 83 kg;

4 Vincent Sandir, Neil McNeil, 41 kg;

4 Sam Harkai, Silverthorn CI, unlimited;

5 Santiago Duro, Lakeshore CI, 54 kg;

5 Bobby Thompson, Newtonbrook SS, 89 kg;
