Toronto skiers make podium at OFSAA

While Toronto wouldn't seem to be a likely candidate for an alpine skiing powerhouse, it did hold its own at last month's Ontario Federation of School Athletic Assoiciations (OFSAA) alpine skiing finals.

Competitors compete in two events (slalom and giant slalom) and are divided into male and female in two different levels (basically school-trained level one, and the more elite club trained level two).

Teamwise, Etobicoke's Richview Collegiate won boys level one.

Lawrence Park earned two team silvers - in both level one and level two girls.

Individually, the top local competitor was Rachel Rennick of Lawrence Park who swept the level two girls combined, winning gold in both slalom and giant slalom events.

Richview Collegiate's Tom Blazejewski won gold in level one boys slalom.

Keegan McCallum, of Richview Collegiate, earned two silver medals coming in second in both slalom and giant slalom.

Other silver medals were won by Zoe Radden of Lawrence Park (level one girls slalom) and William Combaluzier of Cedarbrae (in boys level two giant slalom).
