The Winter Olympic hockey competition may be over but the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) hockey playoffs are just heating up.
In boys hockey, the city's three divisions (south, west and north/east) are set to produce champions this week.Here's the scoop.NORTH EAST DIVISION: semifinals were played Thursday, Feb. 25; Sir Oliver Mowat 9-0 over Earl Haig; York Mills 3-2 over Birchmount Park.They were top five throughout the regular season, as follows: Mowat 10-0, Birchmount Park 7-2-1, York Mills 5-5, (Northview Heights 6-3-1), Earl Haig 3-7-0.The north/east final between Mowat and York Mills is slated for Wednesday, March 3, noon, Centennial Arena in Scarborough.SOUTH DIVISION: semifinals on Tuesday, March 2 at North Toronto at noon and 1:30 p.m. feature, respectively, Leaside and Humberside; Lawrence Park and Malvern.They were the top four teams during the regular season, as follows: Malvern (8-1-1); Humberside (7-2-1), Leaside (7-2-1) and Lawrence Park (5-4-1).The south region final is slated for Friday, March 5, 1:30 p.m., also at North Toronto Arena, with the third-place qualifier set for noon.WEST DIVISION: semifinal on Monday, March 1, 2 p.m., at Centennial Park Arena between Richview and Martingrove; semifinal on Tuesday, March 2, 3 p.m. at Mastercard Centre Rink 4 between Silverthorn and Etobicoke.They were the top four teams during the regular season, as follows: Richview 8-2-0; Etobicoke 7-1-2; Silverthorn 4-4-2; and Martingrove 2-7-1.The west region final is slated for Friday, March 5, 2 p.m. at Centennial Park Arena.GIRLS HOCKEYThe girls hockey TDSB city final-four are set to be played Monday, March 1.
