Marlies join West Hill Golden Hawks at Heron Park Tuesday

West Hill minor hockey hosts Marlies Community Day

The West Hill Golden Hawks are hosting the third annual Marlies Community Day Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. at Heron Park Community Centre.

Everyone is welcome to come out as the Marlies, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, lace up with hundreds of local minor hockey players.

"This is our third annual Marlies Community Day and it's something our players and their parents really look forward to," said West Hill president Howard Ryan.

"The Marlies may be future NHL stars, but they're also young enough to remember what it's like to play in the community rinks so they really get into it."

Members of the Toronto Police Service will also be at the rink to collect gently used hockey equipment.

Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the West Hill Community Services food bank.

"The Marlies practice is an evening to celebrate, show some community spirit and have some fun," Ryan said.

Heron Park is at 292 Manse Rd., south of Lawrence Avenue.

For more information, contact John Radway, executive member with the Golden Hawks at 416-678-1139.
