Tam Heather foursome finalists at provincial bantam curling championships

Teams from Scarborough's Tam Heather curling club fared well at last weekend's bantam provincial curling championships at the Galt Curling Club in Cambridge.

The boy's team came within a whisker of winning the provincial championship.

Conor Joudrey's Tam Heather foursome, which also included third Joseph Hart, second Kurt Armstrong and lead David Hart lost the Sunday, Feb. 12, tournament finale 7-5 to Doug Kee's foursome from the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club.

The teams had to play a Sunday tiebreaker after both finished the round robin portion on Saturday tied for first place at 5-2, with Joudrey winning the head-to-head match over Kees 4-2.

Both teams - along with third place finisher Spencer Borotsik from the North Halton curling club - will resume their rivalries at the Ontario Winter Games, being held March 5 to 12 at the Collingwood Curling Club. They'll compete in a round-robin with the top three finishers from Northern Ontario.

At the girls provincial bantam championships, held simultaneously, the Tam Heather team skipped by Cassie Paccanaro and including third Erin Kay, second Paige Joudrey and lead Bronte Chin, finished just out of the top-three with a 3-4 record.
