Safe at first. Toronto Maple Leaf Brandon Dhue dives back to the bag on an Ottawa pick off attempt as Kevin Dietrick attempts the tag but drops the ball. Leafs won the home opener 6-4 over Ottawa Fat Cats on a three run homer by Tyler Fata in the 7th inning.

The Toronto Maple Leafs opened their Intercounty Baseball League season Sunday, May 6 at Christie Pits with a 6-4 win over the visiting Ottawa Fat Cats.
The Leafs will play their first road game this Saturday, May 12 against defending champion Brantford Red Sox, and will then come back to Christie Pits on Sunday, May 13, 2 p.m., for their second home game of the season against the Barrie Baycats.
With retired pitching greats Ferguson Jenkins and Luis Tiant on hand, the Leafs were actually held scoreless, except for one inning - the seventh. In fact, they went into the seventh inning without a hit, and trailing 3-1.
But they broke it open with a five-run, four hit attack, featuring a three-run homer by Tyler Fata.
Toronto's usual game time is Sunday, 2 p.m. at Christie Pits (located at the corner of Bloor Street West and Christie Street), in fact they're scheduled in for every Sunday this season with a couple of Wednesday night starts also sprinkled in.
You also can't beat the price. It's free.
