Frank Corrado’s NHL debut with the Vancouver Canucks against the Chicago Blackhawks in Vancouver Monday was auspicious to say the least.
The 20-year-old Woodbridge resident and rookie defenceman played an instrumental role in helping the Canucks clinch the Northwest Division title with a 3-1 win.
Logging a little more than 17 minutes of ice time, Corrado was named the game’s third star.
A fifth-round draft pick of the Canucks in the 2011 NHL entry draft, Corrado started his fourth season with the Sudbury Wolves this year before he was dealt to the Kitchener Rangers.
With Sudbury and Kitchener, Corrado had seven goals and 38 assists during the regular season.
In 10 postseason games with the Rangers, he had one goal and one assist.
