A 22-year-old woman was badly hurt today after being run down by a TTC bus in North York.

Police said the bus, heading north on Lesmill Road, stopped just south of Duncan Mill Road to let off passengers. One passenger began walking north and was hit by the bus as it made a right turn onto Duncan Mill at 8:28 a.m.

"The right front tires ended up going over one of her legs," said Sgt. Tim Burrows of the traffic services unit. "She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries."

The bus driver was also taken to hospital.

"That was for an undisclosed medical condition that he needed treatment for," said Burrows.

Police closed the intersection for more than three hours as they investigated.

Burrows said there are several witnesses to the collision. Police will also be looking at surveillance video from the bus.
