Strong winds tear branches off of trees in Bloor West
January 9, 2008
The wind was still gusting Wednesday morning as City of Toronto parks and forestry staff made their way throughout the Bloor West neighbourhood cleaning up debris, mostly downed tree branches.
Ron Crook, a forestry foreman was out inspecting the damage when he came across a tree, whose branches had been spewed by the wind across the front lawn of 716 Windermere Ave.
The tree, he discovered is already scheduled to be cut down, he said, because it's rotting.
Crook, whose been on the job for 34 years in the West District, had started his shift at 7 a.m. and said he anticipated getting more calls from people once they'd returned from work.
One of his crews was down the street at 645 Windermere Ave. cleaning more branches from the roof and front lawn.
