Senator O'Connor junior football makes city final

North York's Senator O'Connor will take on Lawrence Park in the city junior football championship game slated for Thursday, Nov. 19, noon at Esther Shiner Stadium.

The two teams both won their semifinal games on Thursday, Senator O'Connor 16-7 over Michael Power-St. Joseph; and Lawrence Park 27-0 over Sir Wilfrid Laurier.

SENIOR DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

Both North York's Sir Sandford Fleming and Scarborough's David and Mary Thomson Collegiate will try and complete perfect seasons as they hook up in the city's development league championship game which is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1 p.m. at Birchmount Stadium.

Both teams led their respective pools in the regular season with 4-0 records and won semifinal games on Wednesday, Fleming 34-0 over York Memorial; Thomson 40-12 over North Albion.

BASKETBALL

The north division girls basketball championships were held on Tuesday:

* the senior tier one title was won by Downsview 74-24 over Westview Centennial;

* the junior title was won by Westview Centennial 31-29 over Earl Haig.

VOLLEYBALL

The north division boys volleyball championships were held on Wednesday:

* the senior tier one title was won by Newtonbrook 3-2 (22-25, 27-25, 28-26, 15-25, 17-15) over Westview Centennial;

* the junior title was won by Don Mills 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) over Mackenzie.

CROSS COUNTRY

Two athletes from North York schools managed top-25 finishes at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) cross country championships Saturday in Aurora.

Carley Allison of St. Andrew's Jr. was the top Toronto finisher in the midget girls 3,000m race, finishing 21st in a time of 13:23.60.

Zach Francisco of Chaminade College placed 25th in the junior boys 6000m in a time of 23:29.43.
