Bike jumps an asset to the community

Re: Aug. 19, BMX bike ramps, jumps hurting High Park habitat, says resident

To the editor:

I'm am a reader of the Villager paper, and believe that I have important information concerning your article on the High Park bike jumps.

I believe the person who is against the dirt jumps in the park may be the only person I have heard of who is against them being there.

I myself have never been a trick biker or even tried, but I know many people who have stayed out of trouble because they spent their time at those specific bike jumps.

I am currently about to finish my last semester of high school after a long setback because of silly choices I made in the past, but I know at least 10 people who stayed out of trouble due to those specific jumps being there.

Most High Park residents either do not know about these jumps due to the location, or believe it is a positive thing for kids to be doing.

I think that to take those jumps away would be horrible for kids, have no use for anyone other than those kids, and cost a lot of money to create a public site which would likely not be as good as the original site anyway.
