Put your thinking cap on to outwit the garbage collection system

To the editor:

This letter is in response to the article in the Friday, June 18 issue of The Guardian submitted by Mr. Anthony Dale.

I know just how he feels. I put out a box of broken glass for garbage day and the garbage men just threw it back on the ground. I called 311 to report this terrible insult to my proper packaging of the garbage and they assured me that it would be picked up the following Tuesday, but lo and behold, no pick up.

I managed to find a secret way to get it picked up which I will not tell anyone in case I have to do it again.

Mr. Dale, the only way that you are going to get those boxes picked up is to cut them up and put them in the blue bin. Sorry I know it will be a lot of work but if you do it a bit at a time you will eventually get rid of it all.

I am sorry but we have to be inventive to beat the system. And unfortunately this is just the way it is for us.

As I have said many times before, we do all the work and the garbage people get all the money.

So put your thinking caps on and use your imagination and we will outwit them in the end.

Good luck Mr. Dale!

Sharon Davis
