Celebrating Robbie Burns' birthday

To the editor:

Regarding the article about haggis at insidetoronto.com

I very much enjoyed your recent article on the Robbie Burns Day celebration and haggis dissertation.

I was surprised at the glaring error "celebrating the death of Scotland's beloved poet."

Jan. 25 is the 251st anniversary of his birth; he died on July 21.

As life threatening as haggis might sound to some, we don't eat it in celebration of his death, but as part of a tribute to Burn's life.

Celebrating someone's death seems a bit morbid, doesn't it?

Otherwise, the article was very interesting and well written.
