Pedestrians' manners deteriorating

To the editor:

Re: 'Motorists should look out for pedestrians,' Letters, Jan. 27.

I totally disagree with letter writer W.E. Brown.

I have been driving for years and have noticed the deterioration of pedestrians' manners or awareness while strolling around.

They do not look before crossing the street, they do not look around in the parking lot, they do not cross at the crosswalks, but jaywalk. The cellphones and music players are much more important.

Pedestrians can stop on a dime. A car cannot. Yet it is always the motorist's fault if pedestrians are hit or injured.
