Arena users asked to share their memories

To the editor:

Re: 'George Bell Arena marks 50th year,' News, Dec. 22

On behalf of the board of management of George Bell Arena thank you very much for announcing our 50th celebration year with an excellent article in The Villager. To celebrate the arena's role in the community we would like to invite local residents and particularly younger people to send their best memories (photos and or stories) of the arena to me (s.ralphs@sympatico.ca) so we can chronicle the history of the arena and help establish a "time capsule" for future anniversaries.

As the building has increasingly become a multi-purpose facility used 12 months a year, we hope residents will have really funny and interesting stories and memories to share. We'd like to provide an insight into many of the different uses of the building over the years, and some, we expect, will be surprising. Our goal will be to show the arena's central role in the community for five decades.

Steve Ralphs

George Bell Arena Board Member
