Mayor's waistline challenge takes time away from real issues

To the editor:

I find it quite insulting when the media indulges us - and on a full scale - on issues that have no relevance whatsoever, such as the weight of a particular individual, be it a star or a politician.

Have we finished sorting out all the outstanding issues first before we start analyzing the weight of our mayor?

What a waste of time and taxpayers' money.

This makes me angry and sad at the same time, especially since we have so many issues to deal with including homelessness, housing, transportation, health care, crime and so on.

What makes me ashamed is to hear how our mayor and the media are preoccupied from this nonsense and started challenging other mayors to do the same.

I am glad to hear that the majority of these mayors have turned down the challenge as they have better things to do to serve their community.

Enough of this utter nonsense and stop insulting us and let politicians deal with the issues they are elected to do.
