This column's adoptable pets feature two gold medalists.
In the cat category we introduce Midnight with her petite physique and winning personality, and for dogs we have Johnny on the podium for his agility potential and handsome good looks.
Midnight, three years old, and her feline friend Ester, two years old, were brought to the shelter some months ago when their family could no longer keep them.
Ideally, the Etobicoke Humane Society would love to find these two girls a home together. Midnight is not as gloomy as her name would lead you to believe and, in fact, she has quite a sunny disposition. She's described as laid-back yet playful and loves to share lots of purr-ful times with her human guardians. She has gorgeous silky black fur that hides her tiny frame.
Esther is a young, energetic, attentive, intelligent, perky little tortoise shell cat. Volunteers say she's adapted to shelter life in part because she is being housed with her friend, Midnight.
Both ladies are spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready for someone to offer them heart and home - hopefully together.
Note from shelter: There has been a recent removal in Etobicoke involving a large number of cats that has stretched its resources and filled the adoption room to maximum capacity. It has more than 40 cats and kittens looking for adoptive homes. For more information visit www.etobicokehumanesociety.com or call 416-249-6100.
Johnny is a busy two-year-old neutered male terrier mix (Yorkshire and Australian terriers is a best guess).
Johnny can be vocal, and is not shy of barking to communicate, especially when he's crated or left alone. He's a very outgoing boy and wants to meet every dog he comes across. Johnny is described an attention-craving love bug who would be best matched with someone who is committed to his terrier approach to life: active, enthusiastic about absolutely everything with a sense of adventure. He can literally spring several feet straight up into the air - from a standstill!
Johnny is a sponge for learning new things and is always willing when a positive approach is taken and a tasty treat comes as a reward. Because of his tendency to be boisterous he would not do well in an apartment or condo environment.
