Radish is one of Critter Chatter's two pets of the month.

In this month's column you will meet Radish, a cat whose name may seem a bit odd but read on to find out why it suits her, and Jenny, an energetic, clever German Shepherd who has been waiting too long for a family of her own.
Radish is a wonderful young adult cat with a big personality.
When she arrived into Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue she was pregnant and neglected and living under a patch of radish plants (hence her name). She has come a long way since then.
At first she was nervous and anxious about being in the company of other cats, but now she is not only friendly with them, she has taken on a matriarchal role and can often be found grooming and taking care of the shyer cats.
She prefers to spend time with her mellow feline friends but is always willing to come over and join the fun if there are cat games going on.
She craves attention and is extremely loving and affectionate. She likes to be the centre of attention, and if she feels ignored she will tap you with her paw to let you know she's looking for some loving. She likes to be picked up and held and enjoys curling up in a warm lap.
Radish has so much love to give, all she needs is a family of her own to share that love. She is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped.

Jenny was purchased as an eight-week-old pup by a young couple who had never had a dog before and lived on the ninth floor of a condominium where she was confined and left alone long hours of each day.
Miraculously, despite her lack of early socialization, she has turned out to be a wonderful dog, although some of her social graces need honing.
She is an energetic dog and loves outdoor activities like walking and playing in the snow. She has been learning basic behaviour responses like sit, wait and come and is a brilliant student who just soaks up her training sessions.
She's had a rough start and really deserves to have a wonderful family that will appreciate and embrace her; she is a loyal and steadfast companion.
Jenny is about a year-and-a-half old, has been spayed and fully vetted and has her bags packed ready to head home. The best home would be one without cats. She is good with some dogs but with others she can be overwhelming. A home without small children is preferred because she can be very busy and energetic and could knock them over; older children would be fine.
Here is a dog that would be the star of any obedience class, which she should attend with her new guardian. She has been waiting at the shelter for a new home since early November.
