CRITTER CHATTER: Rebel and Pekoe are at the Toronto Humane Society waiting for new homes

North York Mirror

Welcome to November with our pets this month hailing from the Toronto Humane Society (THS). You’ll meet Rebel, a gleaming black Labrador mix who needs a patient adopter, and Pekoe, a calm and gentle feline who loves cat treats!

Meet bright and energetic Rebel!

This handsome four-year-old Labrador mix is looking for that special someone who can help him with ongoing training. Rebel is available through the foster-to-adopt program that the THS offers. This means his adopters can work collaboratively on his training with the THS’ behaviour department. Rebel often feels insecure when new/unfamiliar people approach him, and has been known to respond reactively. He needs guidance and confidence building in these types of scenarios. Rebel can also be anxious at times so having a calm and structured environment will help this boy flourish. He is smart and eager to learn and has the potential to do lots of tricks. Rebel is very active, so long walks and a backyard to play in will suit him. Once Rebel builds his trust with someone, he will show you his affectionate, lovable, goofy and attentive side. Meet pulchritudinous Pekoe!

Stunning Pekoe is a nine-year-old calm and gentle cat who has that regal effect. He will sit upright in his cage inviting pets and brushing while surveying his kingdom.

To get attention and, more importantly the treats you may have stashed in your pocket, he will gently prod with his paw. This handsome kitty has some difficulty using his litter box, but this is something that could be managed in a home environment.

Pekoe enjoys a calm quiet setting where he is the only pet in the home. He’d love to find a sunny spot and watch the world go by through a front window. If you would like more information about Pekoe, contact
