Pay respect to fallen soldiers
First of all I was disappointed there were only five of us at that location, but there is limited parking.
As I held our flag with a couple who had travelled all the way from Barrie to be there, my spirits were lifted. The occupants of hundreds of cars and trucks waved. Most transports sounded their horns as did many cars.
It felt good to know there are so many proud and patriotic Canadians.
I was disappointed that none of our politicians have been able to persuade the Toronto fire chief to let our firemen, who would like to be there, attend. I understand there are a couple of excellent locations that we could be at in Scarborough if we are really interested in our image.
One councillor told me some people are uncomfortable with us honouring our fallen heroes. That could be true, but I don't think they speak for the majority. Our national pride is something all Canadians should cherish. If we don't, there is something very wrong.
