Kite enthusiasts are praying tomorrow will be a windy one for the first-annual edition of Windfest 2010.
Dubbed Toronto's Waterfront Kite Festival, the non-profit event is set to take place Saturday at Woodbine Beach from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Windfest, a free-of-charge celebration of the power of wind, promises a full roster of activities for the whole family including a kids' zone and kite flying demonstrations by expert kite fliers from across North America.
Some of the featured guests include members of the WindJammers International Kite Team, Toronto Kite Fliers, Gogi Kite Club, Great Lakes Kitefliers Society, Niagara Wind Riders, Royal City fun Fliers-Guelph, New York Kite Enthusiasts, Wind Climbers-Kitchener-Waterloo, Federation Quebecoise du Cerf-Volant and the Ottawa Valley Kite Club.
There will even be opportunities for people to make their own kites and buy them during the festival.
Representatives from the green energy sector will also be on hand to educate the public about the importance, value and potential of wind energy.
Attendees can also check out images of the event captured and streamed live from a webcam flying high above.
