Walk of Memories set for Scarborough

Scarborough residents can help raise funds for diabetes by joining the second annual Dignity Memorial Walk of Memories, Sunday, Sept. 26.

It is a whole-family event including a free barbecue, giveaways and a walk or run through West Hill.

Office Manager of Giffen Mack Funeral Home- Colleen Bone said, "It is mostly about walking in the memories of family and friends."

According to Bone, this is going to be a day with a lot of fun events.

"It is all about community," she said, "come out and support us or even just join us for the barbecue."

Almost three million Canadians are suffering from diabetes, another six million are at risk, and the proceeds from this day will go to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Bone thinks Scarborough is a great place to live in, and residents are always supportive of the community. "We expect a great turnout from the day", she said.

Giffen-Mack Scarborough Chapel is at 4114 Lawrence Ave. E. The Walk of Memories starts at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
