Nominations open for student entrepreneur award

Nominations are now open for the 2011 Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Hosted by ACE, a national charitable organization teaching young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities, the Student Entrepreneur National Competition celebrates the commitment, determination and achievements of student entrepreneurs.

Successful entrepreneurs attending a Canadian university or college full time are invited to submit their nomination for the 2011 competition by Dec. 3. The grand prize for the National Champion is $10,000 toward the growth of their business.

Through this annual program, ACE provides a platform for young business leaders to showcase their business on a regional and national stage to top executives and leading entrepreneurs, receive relevant training, network with like-minded students and leverage valuable guidance to accelerate the growth of their business.

"Now in its 15th year of operation, we encourage all student entrepreneurs to apply for the 2011 Student Entrepreneur National Competition," said ACE President Amy Harder in a release. "This is an opportunity for budding entrepreneurs in every community across Canada to showcase their accomplishments and possibly earn national and international recognition."

Each provincial champion will receive complimentary lodging and travel to attend their ACE Regional Exposition in their area. Regional champions will receive a $1,000 cash prize plus complimentary lodging and travel to the ACE National Exposition and the national champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize.

If eligible, the entrepreneur will also represent Canada at the 2011 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, operated by Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO).
