Election nomination deadline Friday

List of Beach candidates so far

The deadline is fast approaching for candidates to submit their nominations for the 2010 municipal elections, but already the two incumbents from the two Beach wards (Ward 30 and 32) - Paula Fletcher and Sandra Bussin, respectively - have plenty of challengers.

The deadline for candidates to file their nomination papers is Friday at 2 p.m.

Heading into Friday, here's who had already tossed their hat in...

Ward 30 (seven candidates): Andreas Bogojevic, Mark Dewdney, Paula Fletcher (incumbent), Andrew James, Angie Tingas, Gary Walsh and Liz West.

Ward 32 (nine candidates): Bruce Baker, Keith Begley, Sandra Bussin (incumbent), Albert Castells, Brad Feraday, Martin Gladstone, Mary-Margaret McMahon, Kieron Pope and Neil Sinclair.

As far as school trustees, here's the field so far.

For the Toronto District School Board, the Beach is served by two wards (which it shares with East York) - Ward 15 (Toronto Danforth) and Ward 16 (Beaches-East York).

Here are the candidates:

Ward 15: Cathy Dandy (incumbent) and Nadeem Jilani.

Ward 16: Alan Burke and Sheila Cary-Meagher (incumbent).

For the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Beach is part of Ward 11 (which also includes East York).

Here are the candidates: Brad McCabe and Kevin Morrison. The incumbent, Angela Kennedy, is stepping down. The seat is actually currently vacant until Kennedy decides whether or not to appeal the recent conflict of interest ruling that ousted her.

Those interested in running for councillor - or any elected position - have until 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 to file their nomination papers with the city clerk in council chambers at City Hall. Along with their nomination papers, candidates need to include $100 for council or school board positions and $200 if they want to run for mayor.

Election day is Monday, Oct. 25.
