DiNovo asks McGuinty to promote human rights in his mission to China

NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo is calling on Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to stand up for human rights in Tibet on his third mission to China on Oct. 30.

McGuinty will be in China until Nov. 3 to promote the Open Ontario Plan and according to DiNovo it presents a unique opportunity to send a strong message on human rights to the government of China.

"It's time to take a powerful stand for human rights instead of business as usual with China," DiNovo said in a press release.

Tibetan people claim they are denied most rights guaranteed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the Chinese government.
