Mayoral candidates take the stage in York

A mayoral debate featuring the front-runner candidates will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 in York.

The debate, hosted by Mount Dennis Community Association, Silverthorn Residents' Association, Greenhills Community Association and Weston Village Residents' Association, will be held at York Memorial Collegiate Institute, 2690 Eglinton Ave. near Trethewey Drive, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Mayoral candidates Rob Ford, George Smitherman, Sarah Thomson, Joe Pantalone, Rocco Rossi and Rocco Achampong are scheduled to partake in the debate. John Tory, former leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party and Toronto mayoral candidate in 2003, will act as moderator.

Topics will include Metrolinx's air rail link to Pearson International Airport, priority neighbourhoods and violence in communities.

The municipal election will be held Oct. 25.
