Enjoy A Night with Leslie art show Sept. 10 to 12

The diverse findings of nine adventurers who recently went on a two-day expedition exploring and researching the Leslie Street Spit will be showcased Sept. 10 to 12 at Leslieville's Labspace Studio.

Called A Night with Leslie, the exhibit features multi-dimensional "Spit-inspired" works including performance and dance numbers as well as sound and art installations and sculptures made from found objects.

The installation opens Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. Performances take place from 9 to 10 p.m. The event also runs Saturday, Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A Night with Leslie is the second of the four-part East End Expedition Series, a string of ongoing, artist-led projects and research-based expeditions investigating, navigating and re-contextualizing urban natural spaces in the city's east end. The projects, which are for the most part collaborative and always exploratory, aim to encourage new experiences and dialogue about east-end geography.

The nine participants in the A Night with Leslie project are Jane Danielson, Adam Herst, John Loerchner, Laura Mendes, Brian Sasaki, Gram Schmatz, Alex Shaw, Laura Smith and Ashley Wheeler.

The series' first instalment, called My Friend Don, was an art show featuring works inspired by a two-day, 11-member canoe expedition down the East Don River.

The final two instalments will feature Rough Park's most haunted zones and a two-day hike from Highland Creek Ravine's hydro fields to the hustle and bustle of Yonge and Bloor streets.

Labspace Studio is at 2A Pape Ave. at Eastern Avenue.
