Two construction workers are being hailed as heroes after pulling an unconscious elderly woman from a backyard pool Tuesday.Police said the 87-year-old was visiting her daughter at 98 Baby Point Rd. near Jane and Annette streets. The senior, who didn't know how to swim, somehow fell into the deep end of the pool in the backyard. The daughter discovered her mother floating face-down in the water and yelled for help around 11:20 a.m. "There were construction workers nearby. They heard the screams," Const. Tony Vella said at the scene. "They rushed over, pulled her out of the water and performed CPR. They did an excellent job."The senior had no vital signs when paramedics arrived. Her pulse was later re-established.She was rushed to St. Joseph's hospital via an emergency run."She is alive," Vella said. "Hopefully she'll survive."Police are investigating how the victim fell into the water. "But foul play is not suspected," Vella said.
