A 24-year-old woman pulled from a burning rooming house on Friday, July 2 is a victim of homicide.
Police said the woman was murdered during a fire at 502 Huron St. near Bloor Street and Spadina Avenue. She was taken to hospital where she died of stab wounds and burns.Police didn't release the woman's name. She was reportedly going into her third year at Ryerson University.A 27-year-old man was also injured. Fashar Badakhshad suffered burns to 80 per cent of his body and was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition."He's been unconscious since the incident," said Det. Scott Whittemore, adding the investigation is pointing to a murder and attempted suicide. Badakhshad is considered a person of interest in the case. Toronto Fire Services Capt. Mike Strapko said the blaze broke out shortly after 10 a.m. and was put under control by firefighters within 15 minutes. "It's a licensed rooming house.
