Bus driver shot with fireworks on Victoria Day

A TTC bus driver escaped serious injury after he was attacked with fireworks in North York Monday, May 24.

According to police, the bus was stopped on Driftwood Avenue near Yorkwoods Gate around 1 a.m. when a male teenager walked up to the doors and pointed what is believed to be a Roman candle firework at the driver.

Roman candles shoot out a series of flaming balls.

The bus driver was hit in the arm and the right side of his head. He refused to be transported to hospital.

Police describe the suspect as black, 17 to 19 years old, 5'7" tall and 155 pounds. He was wearing a black or dark blue sweater and dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-3100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
