A man faces 10 charges after police seized a loaded machine pistol in a park Thursday, March 18, afternoon.
Police said 43 Division officers investigated a group of men loitering in a park in the Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue area at about 2 p.m. One man was found to be in possession of a loaded Tech 9 machine pistol with 30 rounds of ammunition.
Wariskhan Pathan, 18, has been charged with possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possessing a prohibited weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, careless storage of a firearm, careless storage of ammunition, weapons dangerous, possessing property obtained by crime, possessing cocaine and failing to comply with recognizance.
In an unrelated case, 43 Division officers seized a semi-automatic 9mm Ruger handgun after being called to the Ellesmere and Orton Park roads area to deal with disorderly conduct call on Wednesday, March 17.
Jahdel Myers, 21, has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, careless use of a firearm, careless storage of ammunition, possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possessing property obtained by crime, possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and carrying a concealed weapon, prohibited device or prohibited ammunition.
