Police have found the car that struck and killed 25-year-old Nanthieashan Dharmaratnam, but are still looking for its driver.
The blue two-door 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was found Thursday, March 18, in a business parking lot at 84 Colville Dr. in the Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue area.
The licence plates had been removed from the vehicle, said Det.-Sgt. Frank Skubic of the Toronto police homicide squad at the scene Thursday.
Police were directed to the vehicle by a Crime Stoppers tip, he said. Skubic said police have confirmed that the vehicle was the Monte Carlo they were looking for and that it had front-end damage consistent with striking Dharmaratnam.
Police allege Dharmaratnam was deliberately struck in the parking lot of an adult learning centre at 1641 Pharmacy Ave. around 3:10 a.m. Saturday, March 13. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Seran “Kuttyshawn” Kasilingam, 28, believed to have been driving the vehicle, is wanted for second-degree murder. Police are still looking for Kasilingam who is described is brown, 5’11” tall, 230 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a heavy build.
Skubic said police were searching the area near Colville Drive to see if they could find the licence plates or any other information on when the Monte Carlo might have been abandoned.
Anyone with information is asked to call Skubic at 416-808-7399 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
